Bank Robbery in Boston

The Citizen’s Bank at 1628 Tremont Street was robbed just before noon this morning by a suspect who reportedly claimed he had an explosive device on him. The suspect received money after passing a note to the teller, and fled on foot towards Francis Street. A dye pack was given and police are reporting it did explode. The suspect is described as a black male wearing all black and a long black coat, who may be covered in bright red dye now. A man matching the description was stopped in Mission Park, and witnesses from the bank were brought to potentially identify him. The suspect’s note was located by a Boston Police detail officer on St. Albans St.

UPDATE: Boston PD confirming they have the suspect in custody.

Pedestrian struck at Gallivan Blvd & Dorchester

Police are searching for a pickup truck that fled the scene after striking a man at Dorchester Ave and Gallivan Blvd just before 10:00 AM. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 1999 blue pick-up truck with Rhode Island license plate 39149. Witnesses described the driver as a black Hispanic male. The victim was not seriously injured.

Boston MA: Person shot on Norton St

One person was shot just after 10:30 this morning at 85 Norton St. Police are currently searching the area for a short, heavyset black male wearing a black North Face jacket and a do-rag. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Woman struck and killed by tow truck in Brighton Center

A woman was struck by a tow truck and seriously injured Thursday evening at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Ave and Washington Street in the Brighton section of Boston. She was transported by EMS to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and her injuries may be life threatening. The roadway is closed while a police accident reconstruction team investigates.

UPDATE: Boston Police report the woman died at the hospital.

Person shot on Levant Street in Boston

Boston Police responded to the area of 11 Levant Street Thursday evening and found a person shot in the head. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center, and the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Boston MA: HazMat response to Park Plaza Hotel building

Boston firefighters and police responded to a hazardous materials incident at the Park Plaza building at 20 Park Plaza early this afternoon. Staff at the Israeli Consulate had identified a suspicious item in the mail, and when they opened it, found an unidentified white powder. The staff had opened the package in a secure, sealed container. Fire Department technicians on scene reported that none of the powder escaped from the container, and that no one had been exposed to the substance. The container and it’s contents will be transferred to a state laboratory for analysis. The tenth floor of the building was evacuated, but a full evacuation was not required.

The incident has been turned over to the FBI for investigation.

Boston, MA: 2 alarm house fire on Gallivan Blvd

Boston firefighters are on scene with a two alarm house fire at 27 Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester. The house is described as a single family, 2 1/2 story wood home. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

UPDATE: At 1:20 PM, firefighters from Ladder 29 are reporting heavy fire coming through the roof of the house.

UPDATE: At 1:33 PM, firefighters report the heavy fire is knocked down.

UPDATE: Damages to the home are estimated at $300,000. Six people were displaced by the fire. Initial reports are that the fire started in a second floor bedroom.
